The development of scraper conveyors in the production and construction of coal mines has roughly gone through three stages. The second stage is the flexible scraper conveyor made by Germany in the early 1940s, which cooperates with the shearer and metal bracket to realize mechanized coal mining. This kind of scraper conveyor can adapt to the conditions of uneven bottom plate, unevenness and horizontal bending. It does not need to be disassembled when relocating, and the coal transportation volume has also increased. With the continuous increase of the production capacity of coal mining face, the main development trend of scraper conveyor is:

1. Large transportation volume. Developed foreign coal mining countries have developed scraper conveyors with an hourly transport capacity of up to 1500t (1980s) and 3500t (1990s).

2. Long transportation distance. In order to reduce the loss of coal pillars in the mining area and increase the length of the working face, the length of the scraper conveyor has reached more than 335 meters.

3. High-power motor. The power of the electric motor has been developed to a single-speed motor of 525kW and a two-speed motor of 500/250kW.

4. Long life. Due to the use of large-diameter circular chain, the strength of the scraper chain is increased, and the life of the scraper conveyor is prolonged.
